Saudi firm launches housing project near Damascus with more than 2,000 units

Damascus, June 6 (SANA)    Saudi Abyat Real Estate Investment firm, in partnership with Syria’s General Housing Establishment, launched the “Abyat Hills” residential project in the Damascus countryside on Saturday, a development that will include more than 2,000 housing units and is expected to be completed within four years.

The project, located in Qudsaya Suburb (E3), covers approximately 380,000 square meters and is designed to combine residential, commercial, service and recreational facilities within a planned urban community.

Public Works and Housing Minister Mustafa Abdel Razzaq said the project reflects cooperation between the public and private sectors and forms part of broader efforts to expand housing options and support urban development.

Mohammad al-Sallom, Director General of Abyat, told SANA that construction activities began more than two months ago, with road works and infrastructure preparation already underway following the completion of technical and architectural studies.

He said the development will include apartments, townhouses and villas, with green spaces and gardens occupying the majority of the site. According to Sallom, the project’s built-up area will account for less than one-third of the total land area.

Tamam al-Debel, Director of the General Housing Establishment, said the project represents a new partnership model in which the state provides the land while the private sector undertakes development and construction.

He added that implementation work has already begun and that the project is intended to support government plans to expand housing supply and develop new residential communities.

Abyat Hills is located west of Damascus toward Yafour, approximately 10 to 12 kilometers from Umayyad Square, with direct access to major road networks linking the capital to surrounding areas.
