Syrian authorities arrest ousted regime militia commander in Hama countryside

Damascus, June 6 (SANA) Internal Security Forces arrested Shuaib Mahmoud Ibrahim, one of the leaders of the deposed regime’s groups, who committed war crimes and participated in military operations against the rebellious areas.

In a statement on Friday, the Interior Ministry said Ibrahim was detained following intelligence-led monitoring and surveillance that identified suspicious activities and hidden weapons at a site in the Masyaf area of the Hama countryside.

The ministry said preliminary investigations indicated that Ibrahim took part in military operations in the Homs and Hama countryside in 2017 and was allegedly involved in the desecration of the bodies of martyrs.

Ibrahim also admitted to possessing a quantity of weapons and concealing them with another individual in the Masyaf area, accoarding to the statement.

The ministry said the relevant authorities are continuing operations to locate and confiscate the weapons and to arrest the second suspect.
