Security forces arrest director of Yasar al-Assad's office

The Internal Security Command in Latakia Governorate announced the arrest of Wissam Sajee Othman, director of Yassar al-Assad's office, on charges of involvement in violations and crimes targeting civilians in the Syrian coastal region. He is also accused of managing recruitment operations and securing financial and military support during the events that took place in the region in March 2025.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted the Latakia Internal Security Command as saying that Othman's arrest followed a high-quality security operation based on meticulous monitoring of his movements. He was apprehended immediately upon entering Syrian territory in disguise, attempting to evade prosecution.

The Command added that Othman was arrested in the Qardaha area and subsequently referred to the competent judicial authorities for further investigation and to take the necessary legal measures against him in accordance with established procedures.
