Interior Ministry: 10 deposed regime remnants arrested in separate security operations

Syria’s Interior Ministry announced Wednesday that security forces arrested 10 remnants of the deposed regime during separate security operations carried out over the past two days in Daraa, Aleppo, and Idlib provinces.

A source at the Interior Ministry told SANA on Wednesday that the recent operations focused on the three provinces and resulted in the arrest of a number of wanted individuals.

Those arrested included a former commander of the First Corps and former head of the security and military committee in the southern region during the rule of the ousted regime. The detainees also included a former Saydnaya prison guard accused of involvement in violations against detainees, as well as a former officer in the Republican Guard, according to the source.

It said the arrests were part of an ongoing campaign to pursue remnants of the ousted regime.

The operations come as part of efforts by the Interior Ministry and relevant authorities to pursue and hold accountable ousted regime officials accused of crimes and violations against the Syrian people.
