Israeli incursion into western Daraa countryside

Today, Monday, an Israeli occupation force penetrated into the village of Al-Arda in the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa, before withdrawing after carrying out a field operation that lasted about an hour.

SANA quoted the mayor of Maariya and Abdeen Muwaffaq Mahmoud as saying that the incursion force included three vehicles, including two military vehicles and a Hi-Lux car, with about 20 soldiers on board, as they entered the village and the surrounding agricultural lands.

Mahmoud explained that the force arrived in the Bir Bilal Al-Ghubait area, and set up a temporary checkpoint for a short period, before leaving towards the Al-Jazeera barracks via the agricultural road north of the village of Maariya.

This incursion comes after a field tour conducted by the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the villages of Abdeen and Ma'ariya, to review the field conditions and meet with a number of residents and shop owners.

Israeli incursions and attacks continue in the regions of southern Syria, amid accusations of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through raids, arrests, leveling of lands, and targeting civilian areas.
