Drug Enforcement Administration seizes 200,000 Caption Pills, arrest Smuggling Network

Damascus, July 16 (SANA) Syria’s Drug Enforcement Administration carried out a major security operation in the southern province of Daraa, targeting an international drug smuggling network following extensive surveillance and close monitoring of its criminal activities.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Administration said preliminary investigations revealed that the network operated along the border, using the area as a launch point for smuggling narcotics into neighboring countries.

The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of approximately 200,000 Captagon pills. Officers also confiscated six balloons and equipment used to launch them in cross-border smuggling operations.

It said investigations are continuing to uncover the network’s wider connections, identify its remaining members, and determine its external links before referring all those involved to the competent judiciary to face legal proceedings.
