(Zaman Al Wasl) – Spokesman of Al Ummah Army, rebel group based in Douma city, refused to accuse any opposition faction of targeting his commander by a blast on Sunday, saying well-trained assassins who are carrying out a series of assassinations in Eastern Ghouta, according to Smart news agency.
Ahmed Taha (Abu Subhi) had escaped the second assassination attempt in two months when an explosives-laden vehicle exploded in the rebel-held city of Douma near Damascus, activists said.
Douma, which has been under suffocating army siege for more than a year, has been facing mounting pace of assassinations in the last few months for its rebel commanders.
Meanwhile, at least 191,369 people have been killed in Syria's conflict; more than double the figure documented a year ago and probably still an under-estimate, according to the United Nations.
