The Anti-Narcotics Department thwarted an attempt to smuggle a shipment of narcotics from the Lebanese border during a security operation in the Damascus countryside on Tuesday.
The department stated on its official channels that the operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals involved and the seizure of 113 kilograms of hashish, 46,000 Captagon pills, and 1.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
It added that all the seized items were confiscated, and investigations are ongoing with the detainees to identify their accomplices and other individuals involved, in preparation for referring them to the competent judicial authorities and taking the necessary legal measures against them.
This operation comes one day after the Anti-Narcotics Department, in coordination with the Internal Security Forces Command in the Badia region, announced the thwarting of an international smuggling attempt involving a shipment of narcotics in the southeastern countryside of Suwaida Governorate. That operation resulted in the seizure of approximately half a ton of hashish, which the department stated belonged to outlaw groups operating in the governorate.
