Daraa, July 24 (SANA) Israeli occupation forces stormed Wadi al-Raqad in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside on Friday, setting up a checkpoint before withdrawing.
SANA’s reporter in Daraa said that an Israeli force consisting of four military vehicles entered through the Tal Abu al-Ghaithar gate toward Wadi al-Raqad, briefly positioned itself on the valley bridge, and then moved toward the outskirts of Jamlah town near the Saisoun-Jamlah road.
The forces set up a checkpoint in the area, stopped civilians, restricted farmers’ movement and halted traffic for about an hour and a half before withdrawing, the reporter said.
The incident comes days after a child and a young man were injured on Monday when Israeli occupation forces opened fire on a group of civilians in Jamlah town in the Yarmouk Basin area.
Israel has repeatedly violated the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through continued incursions into southern Syrian territory, along with raids, arrests, land leveling and shelling.
Syria has called for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Syrian territory, stressing that Israeli actions are “null and void” and have no legal effect under international law. It has also urged the international community to take action to ensure Israel’s full withdrawal from southern Syria.
