Israeli forces launch incursion into western Daraa countryside

Daraa, Aug. 4 (SANA) Israeli forces entered Maariya village in western Daraa province, on Tuesday morning, searched several civilian homes and withdrew without making any arrests.

SANA reporter said the force advanced into the western outskirts of the village in the Yarmouk Basin before conducting the searches and leaving the area.

Israeli forces have continued earthmoving and road-clearing operations since Monday north of Wadi al-Raqqad, near Maariya, the reportert added.

The operations involved a bulldozer escorted by a tank and a pickup vehicle.

Israel has continued to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria, raids on civilian homes, arrests, land-clearing operations and shelling.

Syria has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory. It maintains that measures taken by Israel are null and void and have no legal effect under international law.

Syria has urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and press for Israel’s full withdrawal from southern Syria.
