Soqour Al Sham mourns senior rebel commander

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Key rebel group Soqour al-Sham has mourned senior commander killed on Monday in the ongoing clashes in Hama province, activists said.

The general commander, Abu Issa al-Sheikh, in statement posted online, mourned Raddad Khallouf, the field commander who has been killed in Morek battles as regime forces pressing heavy offensive to control northern countryside of Hama.

Al-Sheikh lauded Khalloufs bravery as one of most powerful rebel commanders in Soqour al-Sham.

Regime air forces on Monday conducted more 15 raids on Morek and Kafer Zeita towns in readiness to launch ground offensive, activists said.

Activists said regime armed forces backed by Lebanese Hezbollah movement and National Defence are planning to storm Kafr Zeita since it has been main route for arm supplies to rebels in Morek.

Clashes in Hama Front have sparked after long calm between Assad's forces and rebels in the historic province which had witnessed bloody clashes and memorable protests at the beginning of Syrian uprising in 2011.

Meanwhile, more than 191,000 people killed and over 10 million forced to flee their homes.
