Homs: Five people killed in fuel tanker collision

Five people were killed and others injured in a horrific traffic accident that occurred Friday evening on the Homs-Tartous highway, caused by an oil tanker veering off course and colliding with several vehicles.

The accident happened when the oil tanker was traveling towards the city of Tartous. It veered off the road and overturned into the opposite lane of the highway, colliding with civilian vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. The violent impact resulted in a massive fire that engulfed the vehicles involved.

Initial reports indicate that five people, including two children, died. Ambulance and civil defense teams rushed to the scene to control the fire and evacuate the victims. The injured were transported to Talkalakh Hospital to receive necessary medical treatment.

This tragic accident has renewed concerns and calls for stricter regulations on the movement of heavy trucks and tankers on main roads, as well as for stricter traffic safety measures to reduce the number of fatal accidents that continue to claim lives on Syrian roads.
