He went on to say that the 63rd Damascus International Fair is Syria’s economic memory and its window to the world, a meeting place for countries, markets, companies, and investors.

“This rich participation confirms the people’s self-confidence and the world’s confidence in Syria and its people, enabling it to regain its rightful regional and international role,” the President affirmed.

He said that after removing obstacles and lifting sanctions, we have not yet reached the end. Rather, we are at the beginning of a long and sustainable path, one of dignity, pride, rise, construction, reconstruction, development, and civilization.

“Throughout history, Damascus has been the starting point for great stories, and today we stand here to begin a new story—the story of a nation that has regained its will, and a people that has regained its freedom,” President al-Sharaa added.

“Any stories began in Damascus, and from here, too, we begin today the story of a new Syria,” the President concluded.

For his part, Economy and Industry Minister Nidal al-Shaar welcomed participants to the fair, describing it as an important part of Syria’s modern economic history and a longstanding platform connecting Syrian businesses with international markets.

Al-Shaar said the fair’s return represents an opportunity to rebuild trade and investment links and establish a platform for the new Syrian economy. He highlighted opportunities for Syrian and international companies to develop partnerships, exchange expertise and technology, and expand cooperation in industry, investment and vocational training.

Germany is the guest of honor at this year’s fair. Al-Shaar said German participation carries significance for bilateral cooperation, particularly in industry, technology, vocational training, investment and knowledge transfer.

He also highlighted the experience of Syrians who have lived, studied and worked in Germany, saying they could contribute to building stronger human, knowledge and economic links between the two countries.

Al-Shaar stressed that Syria seeks to draw lessons from Germany’s experience while developing its own path in accordance with its national circumstances and specificities. He expressed confidence in the ability of Syrians to contribute through their skills, determination and work to rebuilding the country and shaping its future.

The 63rd Damascus International Fair brings together companies, products and ideas from different countries, providing a platform for trade, investment and economic cooperation as Syria works to strengthen its connections with regional and international markets.
