The Anti-Narcotics Branch in Deir ez-Zor Governorate arrested one of the region's most prominent drug dealers on Saturday during a raid conducted in cooperation with the city's security directorate and special forces.
The Anti-Narcotics Department stated in a statement carried by the SANA news agency that the arrested individual, identified as (Sh. Kh.), was a major drug dealer. The statement indicated that the operation resulted in the seizure of 37 kilograms of hashish, in addition to a quantity of methamphetamine (also known as "H-Boz") and controlled narcotic drugs.
The authorities also seized various weapons and ammunition during the operation. The arrested individual was referred to the competent judicial authorities for legal proceedings.
The Anti-Narcotics Department noted that authorities have confiscated and destroyed large quantities of various types of narcotics in recent months, accusing the former regime of producing and distributing them within Syrian society and smuggling them to neighboring countries and the region.
