Damascus, Aug. 29 (SANA) Syria’s Ministry of Education said Saturday it had completed all preparations for the special examination session for students in Sweida province, stressing that the exams will continue as scheduled despite some students being unable to reach examination centers.
The ministry said it had taken all necessary measures, in coordination with relevant ministries, authorities and Sweida province, to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams.
Examination centers were fully equipped, exam questions and materials were delivered, and proctors and other staff assigned to the centers reached their posts, the ministry said.
It added that all necessary requirements had been provided to ensure a fair and safe examination environment and appropriate conditions for students.
The ministry expressed regret that not all students were able to reach the examination centers despite the completion of preparations and the opening of the centers.
The special examination session will continue according to schedule, the ministry said, stressing that it would continue taking all necessary measures to safeguard every student’s right to education and to sit for exams.
“We will remain alongside our students, and our doors and educational alternatives will remain open to them, because their right to education and examinations is a fundamental right, and because their future is greater than any circumstances that may stand in their way today,” the ministry said.
Sweida Governor Mustafa al-Bakour earlier said outlaw groups had prevented students from leaving the city to reach their examination centers, leading to clashes with students and their families and damage to citizens’ vehicles. He said the governorate postponed the start of the exams by one hour, to 11 a.m., to help ensure students could reach the centers safely.
