Tripoli, Aug. 30 (SANA) Syria and Libya signed an agreement on Sunday to strengthen bilateral cooperation and update the framework governing the two countries’ Higher Joint Committee.
The agreement was signed by Foreign Minister and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani and Libya’s Acting Foreign Minister El-Taher El-Baour.
It aims to activate a previous agreement establishing the Higher Joint Committee and amend its framework in line with political developments in both countries.
The signing took place in the presence of Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh, prime minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity.
Al-Shaibani arrived in Tripoli earlier Sunday for talks with Libyan officials and the official opening of the Syrian Embassy.
The visit includes talks with Libyan authorities and the inauguration of Syria’s diplomatic mission in Tripoli.
