Damascus (SANA) Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani welcomed the unanimous adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution submitted by the Syrian Arab Republic to designate December 19 as an International Day to honor women searching for missing persons.
Al-Shaibani said the resolution represents the first draft resolution submitted by Syria to t
he United Nations in its modern history, describing it as a step that reflects Syria’s transition toward an active role in international forums and the transformation of a national issue into a global humanitarian cause.
He paid tribute to the women who have carried the burden of searching for their missing loved ones, endured years of waiting and suffering, and continued to seek their right to know the truth.
Al-Shaibani said their efforts will remain part of Syria’s path toward justice and fairness.
