Damascus, Sept. 25 (SANA) The Drug Enforcement Department, in cooperation with border guard forces, foiled an attempt to smuggle a shipment of narcotics and alcohol from Lebanese territory, following an operation that led to the seizure of the shipment before it reached its destination.
The department said Friday on its Telegram channel that, after monitoring the shipment’s route, a patrol arrested the smuggler and seized 24 kilograms of hashish, in addition to 113 bottles of smuggled alcohol.
The department said the seized materials were confiscated and the suspect was referred to the competent authorities to complete investigations and take legal measures.
On Sept. 12, the Damascus Countryside Drug Enforcement Branch also foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics in an operation in al-Nabk area, resulting in the seizure of 206,000 Captagon pills, weapons and explosives, and the arrest of two suspects.
