Syrian petroleum pipeline from Baniyas to Homs sustains damage

Damascus, Oct. 15 (SANA) The petroleum pipeline running from Baniyas to Homs was punctured in the Hadida area, west of Homs, prompting an immediate response by emergency and technical teams, the Syrian Petroleum Company said.

The company said the affected area was immediately isolated and secured, while firefighting teams, excavation crews and technical committees were mobilized to deal with the incident.

Ody al-Satouf, director of the company’s media office, told SANA that the valves upstream and downstream of the damaged section had been shut off and that a technical team had begun the necessary repair work.

Relevant teams are continuing to monitor the site and implement the required safety measures, al-Satouf added. No information was provided about the cause of the incident.”
