Hasakah's Christians form armed faction

Al-Hasakah (Zaman Al Wasl) - Christian Community and organizations in al-Hasakah province have united their efforts and visions toward the recent exceptional circumstances the country.

9 Churches and other Christian institutions announced last Wednesday the formation of the General Authority of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian in al-Hasaha province, during their meeting in the Office of the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese of al-Qamishli.

Assyrian Democratic Party revealed that long and hard work, talks and meetings among different organizations of Chaldean Syriac Assyrian people to unite their efforts, vision and attitude toward the circumstances the country in general and the province in particular have witnessed.

The statement published on the party’s Facebook page, confirmed that most Christian churches and organisations signed the joint working document, like Syriac Orthodox Church, the Assyrian Church of the East, the Chaldean Church, the Assyrian Democratic Organization, the Assyrian Democratic Party, Syriac Union Party, the party of free Aramaic, Christian civil assembly, the body of the Syriac agricultural villages.

The joint Working Document aimed to encourage on strengthening relationships among all the community components and to enhance values and morals of mutual living and civil peace away from factionalism and religious intolerance in the community. Besides identifying the rights of Chaldean Syriac Assyrian people and applying social equality, promoting and activating the role of women and youth. Moreover the document encouraged the communication between people in homeland and overseas.

The document showed that implementing those duties would be via different committees like Committees of Conflict Resolution, Public Relations, Relief and services, Information, Culture and protection.

The formation of the General Authority came a month after the Syriac Military Council which was formed in 2013, joined the Free Syrian Army “FSA”, in an attempt to prove to the world that military Staff body was a comprehensive body for all Syrians.
