100 Syrian cultured including prominent thinkers have issued a statement declaring their adherence to the principles of the March-2011 popular revolution which summarized slogans of freedom, dignity, social justice and national unity. The intellectuals demanded to overthrow the regime of Bashar al-Assad with all its symbols.
The United Nations says as many as 100,000 people have been killed
in Syria and four million have been internally displaced, while nearly two
million have fled to neighboring countries.
