After denial, Ahrar Al Sham says it fought against 'Syria Revolutionaries'

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Islamist insurgent group Ahrar al-Sham movement, in new statement posted online, assured participation in fighting against Syria Revolutionaries' Front which was defeated by al-Qaeda Syria’s wing Nusra Front and other rebels group last week.

The movement in previous statement- contradicts with the new one- denied fighting with Nusra Front and called on rebels for an immediate ceasefire and to solve all disputes through the Shariah court and senior clergy. But hours after Ahrar al-Sham said that 'statement' was not expressing the view of the movement and it was an individual act by some of Ahrar al-Sham leaders.

The statement also pointed out to the U.S.-led air strikes which targeted their stronghold in Bab al-Hawa town near the Turkish border on Thursday.

On Wednesday, founder of the Free Syrian Army, Riad Al Asaad, disclosed that many rebel factions fought with Nusra Front to expel Syria Revolutionaries' Front from Idlib province in response to the amounting abuses of the ‘corrupted group,’ according to statement posted online.

Al-Asaad’s statements came to confirm what Abu Mohammad Al-Joulani, leader of al-Qaeda Syria’s wing, said on Tuesday in radio interview with Nusra’a affiliate media outlet.

Last week, Nusra Front backed by other hardline rebel groups waged a major military campaign against the Syria Revolutionaries' Front led by Jamal Maarouf, after accusing him of being corrupt and working for the West against them, Reuters said.

The Nusra Front captured several villages in the Jabal al-Zawiya region of Idlib province and on Saturday it entered the village of Deir Sonbol, the stronghold of the Revolutionaries' Front, forcing Maarouf to pull out.
