Samira Sahli, Palestinian woman tortured to death by Assad: NGO

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Samira al-Sahli, the first Palestinian woman dying under torture in Syrian regime’s prisons, according to the Palestinian Committee for Human Rights.

Al-Sahli worked in aid and relief before getting arrested in her way to a centre for collecting aids in June this year.

The 53-year- old lady was a mother of four and a sister for a young man killed by a sniper 4 months ago.

“al-Sahli is the first Palestinian woman dying under torture in Syrian prisons, she used to help displaced people in Yarmouk camp for Palestinian refugees who came two years ago”, Ala’a Aboud, an activist, reported to Zaman al-Wasl

He added that she used to nurse patients and treat their wounds, as she was a nurse, besides helping in other relief activities like cooking.

The Activist revealed that air forces intelligence’s agents arrested her, months ago in her way to collect an aid package from an office for United Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestinians “UNRWA” despite the regime had guaranteed that no one could have been arrested during aids' delivery.

Samira al-Sahli’s death, raised the number of Palestinians killed under torture in Syrian regime’s prisons to 272, according to statistics done by the “Group of Work for Palestinians in Syria.”
