(Zaman Al Wasl)- 'Artisans in Zaatari' is a new Facebook page created to cover the different professions and artisans’ workshop in the well-known Zaatari refugee camp on the Jordanian border.

The founder of the page, Khalid al-Zoabi, says the purpose of this page is to find proper jobs for the Syrian refugees which will to not be restricted to low grade jobs only like cleaning and guarding.

Most of Syrian refugees have good experience in many professions and vocations, according to Zoabi. “When Syrians started to look for jobs, we founded this page,” he added.

Another reason to seek a job was the Jordanian government decision to replace Syrian workers with Jordanian ones in the short term.

The activist added that main idea of the page was to show others what Syrians can do, as they turned the desert into lively, busy inhabited area, where the busy market in the camp which called “Champs-Elysees” turned from a simple stall to sell some children’s food into a market contains dozens of shops sell unique products, and now even Jordanian people started to come to the camp to buy.

The activist revealed that he publishes on the "Artisans in Zaatari" Facebook page for some unique pieces of work which reflect the Syrians' excellent experience and talents, who preferred to fill their time in productive way, and to manage to earn some money for living without begging.
