(Zaman Al Wasl)- Rebels have killed senior commander of Syrian regime armed forces on Tuesday near al-Shaer gas field east Homs province, pro-regime media feeds reported.
Brigadier Muhsen Said Hussein, top officer in military Intelligence, was the head of Suqour al-Sahra’a (En: Desert Hawks), one of the most well-trained units which contributed in many influential battles in Homs and Latakia.
The slain officer, who gained reputation as a brutal and savage commander, will be buried in his hometown, Safita, in the countryside of Tartus on Wednesday according to pro-Bashar al-Assad social media pages.
Hussein supporters used to dub him ‘Desert Lion’. Even some activists said his popularity was bigger as his rival Col. Suhail al-Hassan, the commander of military operation in Hama province.
