(Zaman Al Wasl)- Fighters of Syria’s al-Qaeda wing al-Nusra Front attacked on Friday two checkpoints belong to Hezbollah militia on the Lebanese border, leaving number of the Shi'ite militants killed and wounded, according to statement posted online.
The statement said that al-Nusra Front fighters had killed number of Hezbollah fighters near Flita town in Qalamoun Mountains as well they had ambushed some militants in Lebanese border village of al-Nahleh.
Hezbollah had lost many fighters over the past few weeks during the clashes in Qalamoun Mountains.
Last month, Lebanese media mocked Hezbollah’s humiliating defeats inflected by Nusra Front after storming their base in Lebanese Brital village, leaving 18 fighters dead and documenting the ‘raid’ in a video posted online.
Hezbollah has lost about 1ooo fighters in Syrian war, sources said, amid a severe blackout by the ‘Islamic Resistance’ leadership to keep fighters' morale high.
