Palestinian Activists have appealed all Palestinian parties and organizations concerned with the issue of Palestinian refugees like the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the Palestinian Authority, for an immediate intervention to protect the Palestinian people inside al-Yarmouk refugee camp and to save the civilians from the effects of the chemical weapons that have been used in the camp for the first time by the Assad forces.
Yarmouk refugee camp was pounded by extremely heavy shelling especially al-Thalathin Street, combined with serious clashes between the FSA and the Regime forces, activists reported to Zaman Alwasl.
Moreover, the volunteered doctors in the field hospitals in the camp had confirmed use of poisoning gas as more than 12 cases of suffocation, fainting and fatigue were admitted, local source said.
It is also reported that the Regime forces with the help of "Ahmed Jibril" followers completely closed all entrances to the camp to prevent supplies, which deepen the economic siege imposed on people for more than 7 months, combined with cutting of electricity power for more than 3 months.
FSA denied the Assad regime's about invading the camp. Leader in Free Syrian Army affirmed that the rebels managed to stop many attempt to enter the camp, what pushed the Regime forces to use heavy bombarding and chemical weapon to control the camp.
In anticipation of this military escalation, the national Council of the camp had removed all high school students outside it on Saturday night to enable them to go through the supplement exam, Activists reported.
During the Syrian civil war, Yarmouk camp became the scene of intense fighting between the rebel Free Syrian Army and its Palestinian ally Liwa al-Asifa on one hand and the PFLP-GC supported by Syrian Army government forces on the other.
More than 93,000 people have been killed since the Syria crisis started in March 2011, according to the United Nations, as largely peaceful protests against Assad's rule. It escalated into a civil war after opposition supporters took up arms to fight a brutal government crackdown on dissent.
