Iraq’s Mufti: 'we will not allow Iran to rule Iraq'

By Abdullah Al Ghadawi; Translation by Yusra Ahmee

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Iraq’s mufti denied the accusation of Sunni and their support to the Islamic state. He considered al-Abbadi a copy of al-Maliki and he let the Iranian revolutionary guard to rule Iraq.

In his interview with Zaman al-Wasl, Iraq’s Mofti, Sheikh Rafi’a al-Rifai considered arresting and the execution sentence against Ahmad al-Alwani, the Parliament member a pure political. He relied on the fact that he was arrested by Qais al-Khazaali’s militias, the Shiite militias, which arrest people according to sectarian backgrounds. “If his arresting is illegal, as al-Alwani has a political immunity, what can we say about the execution verdict then?” added.

He believes that the hidden reason stood behind al-Alwani’s arresting was his relentless role to protect Sunnis’ rights.

The Mufti declared that they would go to the Supreme Court to reverse the verdict. He believed that the execution verdict would badly affect the situation in Iraq, as building new Iraq would not be possible under those sorts of sectarian politicized decisions.

Sheikh Rafi’a al-Rifaee expressed his disappointment with Haidar al-Abbadi’s administration, as he repeated his precedent Nouri al-Maliki’s practices.

The Mufti believes that the problem in Iraq is not the three Prime ministers who ruled it, but the political quotas trend, which relied on supporting some sectarian groups, while ignoring others, putting the benefits of Iraqi people last in consideration.

Iraq’s Mufti is not happy with the attitude of some Arabic country towards the Prime minister, Haidar al-Abbadi, because the situation still the same like before and the leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is the practical ruler of Iraq. “Look what they did in Jarf al-Sakhr, they separated men from women, demolished houses, and burned others, they killed and displaced hundreds, what political progress you are talking about?” he wondered angrily.

The Mufti denied the accusation of Sunnis and their support to the Islamic State, assuring that tribes’ revolution was a real Sunni revolution, and not part of the Islamic State, as it took place before controlling Mosul by the Islamic state. “But the Islamic state used the tribes’ revolution and its achievements to its benefits”

He did not feel that relying on Shiite in national reconciliation would be a wise step, as they kill the Sunni without any consideration. Moreover, they did not announce the jihad and alert status when the United State “USA” occupied Iraq, but they did so when the Islamic State controlled Mosul, and felt that Maliki’s ruling could be ended. “But unfortunately there are some Arabs who still support al-Abbadi.”
