Opposition Ambassador to Doha says renewing passports starts by January

Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The National Coalition’s Ambassador to Doha, Nizar al-Hiraki, ended the controversy about renewing Syrian passports, as he confirmed that Syrian passports' renewal would take place in the Embassy and would start in the beginning of next year, and the announcement would be via a press conference. He did not mention anything about fees.

The Ambassador confirmed to Zaman al-Wasl that Coalition’s Embassy is able to renew Syrian passports as it works in coordination with Qatar to print stickers. He confirmed that enough amounts of passports are available.

He mentioned that attestation of any Syrian official document in the National Coalition’s Embassy in Doha is internationally recognized, as they are attested by the Qatari foreign Affair Ministry.

Al-Hiraki mentioned that National Coalition had not given the matter of renewing Syrian passports enough interest in the past, even they were not sure that the Embassy would be able to achieve the goal. “However, though long, organized and institutional effort, besides the Qatari role, we have achieved the task, which surprised the Coalition”
