Ramadan for fun and war in Aleppo

''Our voice chanting the Revolutionary songs is louder than the sound of bullets,'' that's the job of our tent in Salah al-Din suburb in the capital city of North Syria, Aleppo, Activists said to Zaman Alwasl.

Despite the war, rebels insisted to keep one of the holy month features which is the Tent of Ramadan where entertainment and God praise are floating around, where rebels can gather from the neighborhoods of Aleppo to have their breakfast (Iftar).

Salah al-Din Revolutionary Council had planned to allocate each day of the holy month to call an association or other rebels groups in different areas of freed Aleppo, Zaman Alwasl reporter said.

The revolutionary, relief associations and media activists are permanent guests of the tent. It's there meeting place to discuss all issues and activities of the liberated areas in Aleppo and where they can turn the tent to a mosque to pray 'Al-Taraweeh', special pray in Ramadan, according to organizers and funders of the tent.

“The rebels of Salah al-Din neighborhood opened the tent in one sub-street away from the fighting front line with the Regime forces, despite that, the number of visitors was not affected, its ranged between 30 and 50 people a day, " Asmar, one of the organizers said.

“the strategic objectives of this tent are to tell the Regime that we are here and we will stay and will not let them to steal our joy in Ramadan atmosphere," the organizer assured.

Regarding fund and support, Asmar said it comes from relief and media institutions to provide dates and Ramadan drinks, and food is from the kitchen, which is managed by the Salahuddin Council."

“The tent is similar to those used Syrians in weddings and grieves and it is decorated with independence flags and colorful carpets. A sound compound is located in a corner of it Abu Aljood ,the demonstration singer, sings loud “Mother do not cry and get sad, tomorrow the victory is coming” said the media activist Abo Noor.

The rebels insist that the voice of freedom, which came out in the start of the revolution more than two years ago, will keep going on to overcome the tyranny of the regime and get rid of it, and although only a few meters separate them from the Regime forces, their songs will keep going on to overcome the sound of bullets.
