(Zaman Al Wasl)- Lara Tlas, wife of Bashar Tlas, the former Major in the Forth Division of the Syrian army, detailed circumstances around her husband’s defection later abduction by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
In her talk to Zaman al-Wasl, Lara Tlas said that Bashar was injured in his first days of defection early in the beginning of Syrian Revolution, when he entered Rastan to join rebels. He needed urgent transfer to Turkey for treatment, the he became the representative of the Military council in Rastan.
“Injury did not stop Bashar from carrying on his duties toward the revolution, as he planned with rebels inside Syria to form Tal Abiadh brigade, in al-Raqqa’s Countryside, then he entered Syria when he recovered”, the wife detailed.
Major Bashar did not leave Tal Abiadh after his second injury, stayed to fight regime forces, then he receive his third injury after severe siege for 2 hours near the Squad 17, according to Lara.
Mrs. Tlas spoke in details about liberating al-Raqqa: “After liberating al-Raqqa where Bashar played a significant role, 11 brigades and battalions from al-Raqqa and Deir Ezzor requested joining his brigade to unite all together, which happened indeed and formed the second Corps. Unfortunately, that Corps was formed in wrong time, as it was not appreciated enough, because of the papers' shuffling among the Free Syrian Army, the Islamic State and the regime forces”
She mentioned that regime and the Islamic State felt the risk of the second Corps, therefore they started planning to assassinate Bashar many times, one of them was by an explosive device near his house, but he was lucky and was not injured.
In regard to his arrest by the Islamic State, she said that he was abducted by a group of people on Friday 3-1-2013 after Friday pray, when he wondered around in al-Raqqa without guards, and was taken to unknown place.
“The moment I heard of his abduction, I decided to run away to Turkey with the help of rebels in al-Raqqa, as I felt of risk of arresting” detailed.
Major Bashar’s wife revealed that Islamic State is the number one suspect of abducting her husband, and many detainees to the Islamic State confirmed to her that he was in their prisons.
Lara forward a message to the Islamic State: “My husband is a good Muslim, does not miss any religious duty and does the five prays,
he defected from the Syrian regime’s army to support the poor and oppressed, is abduction your way to appreciate his effort?”
She appealed to the Islamic State via Zaman al-Wasl to release her husband confirming that he risked his life when he defected from the fourth Squad to defeat unfairness and suppression.
