(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syria’s al-Qaeda wing al-Nusra Front on Thursday has carried the fiercest attack on Shiite predominantly villages of Nubul and al-Zahra’a in Aleppo countryside, taking control of 50% of towns, activists and media outlet said.
Al Jazeera satellite channel reported that 50 % of the towns areas have been controlled by Nusra Front on Thursday.
People of the towns promised to not support Syrian regime if rebels stop the offensive, activists said.
The villages which have been under suffocating rebels siege for more than a year have been main resource for Basher al-Assad forces by militants and logistic supplies.
Activists said the Nusra Front have stormed the western neighborhood of al-Zahraa village after a suicide bombing and heavy mortar fire.
Meanwhile, Islamist rebels of war-torn province of Aleppo keep pressing advances in the northern countryside amid reports of heavy losses among Assad forces and Shiite militias.
