Assad regime's airstrike in Syria claims six lives

Syrian forces killed six people in an alleged airstrike in southern Daraa province’s Daraa Balad district, an opposition group said Wednesday.

The General Commission of the Syrian Revolution said in a statement that forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad attacked opposition-controlled civilian areas with aircraft. Scores of people were also reportedly injured.

"The wounded were referred to field hospitals in the region and many homes as well as workplaces were damaged," the statement added.

According to the Syrian Revolution Martyr Database, a group that provides daily updates on deaths across the country, about 11,000 civilians have been killed in Daraa in the regime attacks since March 15, 2011.

More than 190,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict between the Assad regime and opposition forces began in early 2011, according to UN figures published in August 2014.
