Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Zaman Al Wasl)- General Director of Al Jazeera Media Network, on his Facebook page, has mourned Rizq al-Masalmeh, one of al-Jazeera’s staff who passed away in Doha due to a heart attack this week.

Rizq was the brother of Al Jazeera's former reporter in Syria Mohammed al-Horani who martyred last year during his covering in Daraa province.

Yasser Abu Hilala said last time he had seen Rizq was during his wedding preparations. “Deep inside, he was like his brother Mohammed and reminded us of him”

Abu Hilala found heart attack as a strange cause of death for the “Syrians” who used to be killed by explosive barrels, shelling, chemical weapon and under torture or drowning.

Abu Hilala, who built strong ties with Syrian activists during his former job as Al Jazeera's senior reporter in Jordan, says Rizq was hired in Al Jazeera as a gratitude to his brother Mohammed and support to his family, by recommendations of Sheikh Hamad Bin Thamer Al Thani, Al Jazeera’s Chairman.

Abu Hilalah described Rizq as a good example of hard working, commitment, professionalism, and keenness to learn.

In the end of his message, Abu Hilala said: “we need to transform our feelings of pain and anger into a positive energy and consolidate with Rizq’s family, who lost Mohammed, then their father and now Rizq”

According to information reported to Zaman al-Wasl, Jordan’s Authority refused to burry Rizq in Jordan because neither his father nor mother are Jordanians. Moreover his mother was not able to go and attend his funeral in Doha, because she would not be able to go back to Jordan if she left.

Mohammed Masalmeh, known as Mohammed al-Horani, was a journalist responsible for reporting the front lines of Bosra al-Harir in Dara’a countryside; he was killed by 3 shots while he was working on a report. He was known of his detailed and accurate reports.
