(Zaman Al Wasl)- Opposition’s fighting battalions in Wadi Barada in the Western Countryside of Damascus have started a “cleansing campaign” against the National Defence Forces’ members, arresting 14.

Abu Mohammed al-Birdawi, the manager of the media center in Wadi Barada told Zaman al-Wasl that campaign came to limit bad and provoking practices by some members of the National Defence Forces (NDF), and punish them.

Al-Birdawi mentioned that 14 members of the NDF were arrested and detained at rebels’ bases. He denied any connection with the Nusra Front as the regime’s National Television tried to show.

The media center manager explained that main reasons to arrest those NDF’s members were their annoying and provoking practices against people, besides their cooperation with the Syrian regime, against what they were meant to do to be an unbiased party and facilitate people’s services and organize the entry of food and other materials.

Last November, the Syrian regime and rebels contracted an agreement about releasing detained women in regime’s prisons, letting food and medicine in, and ceasing shelling on Wadi Barada, in return rebels to allow water supply to Damascus.

Regime partly abides to the agreement, but still, many breaches took place, like shelling some areas, leaving some women from the area in prison, and arresting 12 women recently.
