(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime forces Wednesday have
opened Babbila crossing after 45 days of sever siege and under pressure of
rebels who threatened to end the cease-fire truce if the siege would be
continued on the southern suburbs of Damascus.
Activists reported 11 death cases,
mostly children, due to lack of food and medicine as Syrian regime continues in
starvation policy.
“Life has returned back to
Babbila,” activist said, people flooded to markets to buy their basic needs in
lower prices since the war traders have gained high profits of siege.
Last week, Jihadist Shura Council,
rebel group, demanded Syrian regime to open Babbila crossing and to let aid and
basic food staples reach the starved towns of Babila, Beit Sahm and Yalda.
The council reprieved regime forces
3 days, saying the clashes to start again and all reconciliation efforts will
be without avail.
The siege on southern suburbs of Damascus has been imposed 40 days ago as Bashar al-Assad regime has strongly adopted starvation policy as a deadly weapon in the conflict erupted 4 years ago.
More than 220,000 people have been killed since the conflict in Syria erupted in March 2011.
