(Zaman Al Wasl)- Islam Amry and Suqour al-Sham rebel groups waged surprise attacks on Syrian regime checkpoints in Mount al-Arbaeen in Idlib countryside, activists said, with no specific number of casualties.
Footage posted online by rebels showed rebel controlling bunkers and checkpoints were controlled by Bashar al-Assad forces. Rebels said tens killed of troopers.
Rebels have detonated the yellow palace, strategic stronghold of Assad forces, killing 3 officers, rebel commander said.
The battle will enable rebels to press more advances towards Ariha, Assad’s biggest strongholds in Idlib, activists say.
Meanwhile, fighting between the Syrian arm of al Qaeda Nusra Front and Western-backed Hazzm movement in northern Syria spread from Aleppo province into neighboring Idlib on Friday, Reuters said.
More than 220,000 people have been killed since the conflict in Syria erupted in March 2011.
