Rebels control two districts northeast Aleppo


 (Zaman Al Wasl)- Syria’s rebels on Tuesday have recaptured most territory it was controlled by regime forces last months in the northeast of Aleppo city after a heavy fighting and huge casualties.

Islamist rebels have taken control of Handarat camp and al-Mayyasat hill amid reports of dozens troopers killed and 14 arrested,

 Zaman al-Wasl reporter said rebels have taken full control of strategic Handarat camp, expelling Basher al-Assad forces and Shiite militias.

Handarat considered as the main supply route between Aleppo the city and its northern countryside.

Rebel feeds on social media said the recent advance is very effective gain as rebels have foiled regime attempts to surround the war-torn city of Aleppo. 

Meanwhile, rebels intend to capture the next-door strategic district of al-Braij and Sheikh Najjar Industrial city. A step can set regime’s alarm bells, activists said.

More than 220,000 people have been killed since the conflict in Syria erupted in March 2011.
