Syrian forces freed 2 women, 3 children in Idlib


(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime has acquiesced to rebels’ demand to free 6 detainees, including 3 children and 2 women, in Idlib province as rebels cut off electricity and water on regime-control city of Idlib, activists said.

The bargain included release of a women arrested by rebels who accused of cooperating with regime’s intelligence in the Shiite village of Kafriya.

Electricity and water have been a lethal weapon by rebels that stand behind releasing tens of detainees.

Idlib countryside was the first territory liberated from Syrian regime but very shortly Islamist factions have dominated the border province with Turkey.

Two months ago, the Nusra Front had expelled West-backed moderate rebel groups from Idlib.

More than 220,000 people have been killed since the conflict in Syria erupted in March 2011.
