(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Unified Military Command of Eastern Ghouta district, in statement posted online, stressed the unity of the mainstream group against Syrian regime.
The statement comes as criticism has been mounted against Islam Army’s commander Zahran Alloush, who carried a massive rocket attack on government-control neighborhoods of Damascus twice less than a week, what resulted to the fiercest aerial bombardment on the embattled suburbs of Damascus, leaving 150 people killed and hundreds wounded.
The Command was founded in August 2013 of Islam
Army (Jaish al-Islam), Al- Rahman Legion (Failaq al-Rahman) and the Islamic
Union for Ajnad al-Sham.
Towns of the stubborn Eastern Ghouta have suffered severe siege and daily shelling for more than three years since the armed conflict escalated.
Islam Army was formed by a merger of rebel factions in 2013 and has received backing from Saudi Arabia.
The United Nations says 220,000 people have been killed since 2011 in Syria's civil war, which started with peaceful protests against President Bashar al-Assad.
