Coalition’s members to attend meetings on personal cost

Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Zaman Al Wasl)-  The Syrian opposition’s National Coalition is going through a financial hardship to an extent that members are requested to cover their travel and accommodation expenses to attend the General Assembly’s coming meeting; they would get help from their colleagues in Turkey to host them in their houses or cooperate to cover the travel cost.

A well-informed member in the National Coalition told Zaman al-Wasl that decision had come as a part of the new reforming and improving plan the Chief of the Coalition, Khalid Khoja had taken to prove that “central Leadership” is existed in the Coalition and can manage its institutions, and no one is above the Coalition whoever he/she was supported from, otherwise he/she would be dismissed and questioned.

The source mentioned to Zaman al-Wasl that Khoja has shown solidity and strength in his decisions which forced many to review their practices. The source confirmed that the meeting of the General Assembly is taking place on time as scheduled, and the financial hardship increased the cooperation among the Coalition’s members.

Zaman al-Wasl had few days ago published a report about the financial crisis the Interim Government is suffering of and it is about to announce bankruptcy with no money to pay salaries for this month.

The report presented evidence of some cases of corruption and irresponsibility in dealing with the revolution’s money and other countries’ fund and financial support. The source confirmed that responsible figures in the Coalition have checked the information mentioned in the report and investigation would take place. In the end the source hinted that financial hardship would be relieved soon as a result of Khoja’s tour in many Arabic countries.
