HOMS (Zaman Al Wasl)- Homs once richest Syrian governorates has been suffering a severe deficit in its budget since uprising erupted in 2011.
The sources described this year's budget for Homs, announced by the Prime Minister as “theoretical and false” as the municipality's treasury is completely empty.
in regard to the 2 Billion S.P fund Assad’s Government allocated for Homs in May last year, following the withdrawal of rebels from the city, the sources confirmed that City council received only 10% of the money, and all was spent to refresh neighborhoods loyal to regime “Zahara, Wadi aldahab, Nazha and Arman”, the rest of the money was allocated as salaries to the national Defence Forces (NDF), which ranged between 35,000 and 75,000 Syrian pounds each ($150 t0 $350).
In a relevant content, activists confirmed that a state of desperation and hopelessness prevailed over people who have returned to their areas in Homs because of lack of services.
“Owners of Dablan’s properties”, a Facebook page aimed to advertise for Dablan’s rebuilding, but it started to express the disappointment of people from lack of public services.
Many people reported that each time they complain to the city council to request service, for example mending a road or electricity, they usually face a common reply: “services??, the country is in war, we have no money, go and manage the matter yourself.”
