Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Om Mohammed, an old lady in her seventies, has run away from Raqqa city northeast of Syria to protect herself and her son from the Islamic State, as they have been accused of apostasy, while her two daughters demanding her to go back to Raqqa and repent.

Om Mohammed talked to Zaman al-Wasl but refused to say any detail about her place of living or even her real name of nickname, fearing of the Islamic State’s spies.

She detailed circumstances of her escape: “when I was at my daughter’s home, I heard my grandson, who is a fighter with the Islamic state, planning to arrest my son and hand him to the state because he fights with Ahrar al-Sham, then I decide to leave the area straight away at night with my son and stayed at a relative’s in Tal-Abyad then left the country”

The heart-broken mother said that her two daughters keep sending her demands to go back to Raqqa to the request forgiveness in the house of Repentance

“I cannot trust ISIS and they would not forgive my son, I really miss my two daughters but I am surprised how the State managed to recruit my two grandsons who are less 15 years old and brain-wash them.
