(Zaman Al Wasl)- The medical body in Wadi Barada has tried hard
to be a lead example of institutional work, as it is the main body providing
medical service in Wadi Barada area and surrounding villages.
“We have been working in these institutions
for years which has given us great experience in dealing with different medical
conditions and operations, besides securing medications” Dr. Hosam Rajab, Head
of the Medical Body said. The medical body consists of many out-patient
clinics, emergency rooms open 24/7. Dr, Rajab mentioned that about 3000
patients visit clinics monthly and they are treated by Physicians, nurses and
other medical staff who are regularly trained to keep their skills updated. In
regard to medication, Dr.
Rajab explains that they find
difficulties in obtaining and securing medication and other medical equipments,
sometimes they are forced to buy smuggled medicine from Lebanon to distribute
them to people in Wadi Barada for free or discount prices.
“Sometimes we have to illegally
transfer patients to Lebanon for treatment” Abo Mohammed al-Bardawi, director
of the media centre in Wadi Barada mentions that services of the medical body
are not restricted to people in the area only, as they admit patients and
wounded from other areas.
