(Zaman Al Wasl)- Christian community was extremely provoked after arresting the prominent religious figure Gabriel Dawood and his bodyguards in the Christian neighborhood in the city of Malikiya in Northern Hasaka’s countryside by the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD).
Sources reported that armed group of (PYD) had attacked a house in Malikiya during a meeting among the religious figure “Gabriel Dawood” who came from Damascus, and Ahikar Rashid: the responsible for the movement of "Youth of Mother Syria", and Sarkon al-Kis: responsible for Assyrian Protection Office (Sotoro), besides other workers, and seized arms of the guards. Sources mentioned that (PYD) has claimed that no permission was given to Sotoro to enter Malikiya especially they were armed.
Sources explained that real reason behind the arrest was not informing the Party in advance about the religious figure’s visit to Malikiya. Assyrian activists told Zaman al-Wasl that PYD wanted to deliver a strong message to their community, that Baath era is still prevailing, and the PYD can arrest anybody anytime, even if it was p prominent figure.
“This act aims to threaten Christians to force them to leave the country that is not different from the Islamic State’s practices against them in Khabour area” added. The Democratic union Party (PYD) and Syrian regime share controlling Qamishli city, while the Assyrian militia (Sotoro) spread in Christian neighborhoods in the city.
