(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Islamic State (ISIS) launched a surprise attack on Syrian regime checkpoints in the eastern countryside of Homs, killing 10 and wounding 20, sources said Friday.
The ISIS fighters stormed all checkpoints and
barracks of the regime forces in al-Shoumariya Mountains, 50 km east Homs city,
eager to to cut arms supply route to Alawite villages, activists said.
Pro-Bashar al-Assad twitter feeds said ISIS has
only controlled the eastern side of the mountains but the western side is still
under regime forces' control as reinforcements arrive.
