Syria's internal opposition to discuss Coalition's political settlement

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Syrian internal opposition's main umbrella group National Coordination Body for Democratic Change (NCB) said on Saturday it will discuss and develop the document of basic principles for political settlement in Syria that proposed by the National Coalition.

The executive office of domestic opposition group that met with National Coalition  delegation in Paris days ago agreed to take the proposed settlement into consideration, saying it will develop the draft and do the necessarily modification in line with its political vision.

The SNC's draft has drawn a road map for Syrian political future without Bashar al-Assad.

The Coordination Body  is a Syrian bloc chaired by Hassan Abdel Azim, consisting of 13 left-wing political parties and "independent political and youth activists".

The NCB relations with other Syrian political opposition groups are generally poor. The Syrian opposition groups oppose the NCC calls to dialogue with the regime.

Some opposition activists have accused the Coordination Body of being a "front organization" for Assad's government and some of its members of being ex-government insiders.

The NCB’s strategy stands on two main points: The NCC refuses to accept foreign military intervention, although it does accept various forms of support for the opposition and supports Arab League involvement in the conflict. NCB tries to emphasize nonviolent resistance to the Syrian government, despite endorsing the Free Syrian Army.
