Southern suburbs of Damascus protest against Nusra Front


People of Babila and Yalda suburbs south of Damascus went to the street on Tuesday protesting against Nusra Front's practices and abuses, chanting slogans of support for local rebels in their fight again al-Qaeda Syria’s wing.

A ceasefire was reached on Sunday between the Nusra Front and Sham al-Rasoul brigade in suburbs of Babila and Beit Sahm after mediation of Islam Army that ended two days of fierce infighting killed dozens of fighters and civilians. 

The intense situation resulted of the repeated abuses by al Qaeda Syria's wing has pushed both people and rebels of the embattled suburbs of Babila, Beit Sahm and Yalda to ask Nusra to leave to avoid bloodshed.

Babila’s local council, in statement posted online Wednesday, said fighters of Nusra Front are our brothers but our main issue is with the ‘corrupted gang’ that claims affiliation to Nusra in the southern suburbs.
