“Raise Your Revolution’s Flag” campaign, which launched by activists in Aleppo has widely spread among social media by activists in and out Syria in In reviving the fourth anniversary of the ٍSyrian revolution.
Organizers of the campaign of the revolutionary movement office in Aleppo council has created an “event” on social media like Facebook and twitter encouraging people to share photos of people raising the revolution’s flag.
Yunes Shasho, the spokesman of Rebels' council of Aleppo, told Zaman al-Wasl that campaign would consist of many revolutionary activities and ceremonials in many of Aleppo’s neighborhoods including raising the highest flagstaff in liberated areas in Syria, he mentioned that activists started a week ago painting walls of the city buildings even the rubble with the revolution’s flag.
As the Syrian revolution enters its fifth year on 15th March, United Nation estimates around 220,000 deaths in February this year among them 10,664 children and 6,783 women were also killed. 3.9 million Syrian refugees in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt see no prospect of returning home in the near future, and have little opportunity to restart their lives in exile, even inside Syria, the situation is also deteriorating rapidly.
Shasho explained that campaign aims to raise the revolution’s flag in squares and important places of liberated areas to insist of its existence among several flags of different groups, as that flag was the one covered thousands of Syrian martyrs. Raising the Revolution’s flag was not restricted to Aleppo as Syrians in all cities and all over the world started calling to raise the flag via Hashtag #Raise_revolution_flag with noticeable participation of politicians, media and public figures.
