(Syrian Mirror News)- Addressing the people of Syria, the general commander of Ahrar al-Sham Islamic movement, Hashim al-Sheikh gave a speech to mark the fourth anniversary of the Syrian revolution. The speech, that came during a military parade by Ahrar al-Sham fighters, carried several messages to the Syrian people and to the world.
Hisham, aka Abu Jaber, began his speech with a greeting to the Syrian people living in camps, and he mentioned the names of some icons such as martyr Ghiyath Matar and martyr Hamza al-Khatib who were killed under torture.
Abu Jaber recalled some moments of the revolution and mentioned the sacrifices made by the Syrian people which has shaken the regime before Iran interventions.
He said that more than 200 thousand mercenary fighters were brought by Iran to help Assad when the whole world was watching silently.
He expressed his rejection of political initiatives which he described as "truncated initiatives that aim to save the regime from certain death" as he put it. He said that those who call for such initiatives have forgotten the blood of hundreds of thousands of Syrians.
He stressed that the Syrian people no longer accept any other solutions other than the one for which they made so many sacrifices, explaining that the Syrian people wanted to get rid of Assad and "God wanted to restore the nation" as he put it.
Abu Jaber promised the regime and the Iranian militias of more resistance and stressed that "Sham is the invaders' cemetery," referring to the recent battles in Aleppo, in which Ahrar al-Sham was involved strongly. He also called on his fighters and the Syrian people to not despair because of the current situation.
It is noteworthy that Ahrar Sham movement is one of the largest factions of the Syrian armed opposition. It combines jihadism and moderation, which makes it a strong candidate that can lead the Syrians in their struggle to oust Assad regime.
